Rules and Directions
The winner receives a valuable prize and the nominator of the winner receives a Barnes & Noble gift card.
1. WHO MAY BE NOMINATED FOR THE INSPIRE POSITIVE AGING AWARD
Any senior age 65 and over who lives in King County, Washington, is eligible to be nominated. Senior Services employees, Board of Directors and their immediate families and households may not be nominated for this award. Persons who volunteer through Senior Services who are otherwise eligible may be nominated. Senior Services at its sole discretion will determine the winner’s eligibility.
The winner of the award grants Senior Services the right to publish and use his or her name and image in any media for promotional purposes related to positive aging.
Senior Services and its employees may not be held liable for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participating in this promotion or from any acceptance or use of any prize awarded.
2. WHO MAY NOMINATE A SENIOR FOR THE INSPIRE POSITIVE AGING AWARD
Any person is eligible to nominate a senior for the Inspire Award, whether or not he or she is a resident of King County, Washington.
The nominator of a winning nominee grants Senior Services the right to publish and use his or her name, image and nomination essay in any media for promotional purposes related to positive aging.
3. JUDGING
One Inspire Positive Aging Award winner will be selected from among all eligible entries. A committee consisting of members of the Senior Services Executive Director, Board of Directors and others will make the selection. Decisions of the committee will be final. Judging will be based on evidence of a life lived in ways that exemplify positive aging, as described in:
- Nominator’s full and accurate written description of the nominee’s lifestyle choices that inspire living and aging well, including
- Examples of the nominee’s vital choices and success in areas that influence successful aging, and
- Nominee’s qualities or behaviors of healthy aging that the nominator emulates or wishes to exhibit in his/her own healthy aging.
4. TO ENTER
Entries must be submitted online or received by mail by
April 9, 2012 to be eligible for the 2012 contest. All entries become the property of Senior Services. Senior Services reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be abusing any aspect of the contest.
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.
5. PRIZES
The Inspire Positive Aging Prize winner will receive two roundtrip unrestricted airline tickets to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies and a year’s membership at his or her local senior center. The nominator of the winner will receive a $50.00 gift card for Barnes & Noble.
The prize is nontransferable, non-assignable, and non-endorsable, and no cash or other substitutions will be offered except at the sole discretion of Senior Services. Senior Services has the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
6. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE
The winner will be chosen and notified at least two weeks in advance of the Senior Services’ Annual Meeting,
May 16, 2012, at which time the winner will be announced publicly. Attendance at the meeting is not required to win. If for any reason the person selected as the winner is unable to accept the prize, an alternate winner may be selected. Winner may waive his/her right to receive a prize. Announcement of prize winner will appear on the Senior Services and Award websites (
www.seniorservices.org and
www.inspire-award.org) and in other Senior Services publications or press.
7. SPONSOR
The Inspire Positive Aging contest is conducted by Senior Services. Other organizations supporting the Award have provided informational and promotional backing only, at no cost to them or payment to Senior Services.
